I dont bother with the Sat Nav in my 2013 FL2 as its not easy to use and useless anyway. 35 yrs as a Truck driver I stick to good old maps less of a distraction and no silly female voices (apart from the the old boiler in the passenger seat !)

Same here - my 64 plate sd4 se didn't come with sat nav and to be honest I can't think of an occassion when I would have needed it. Managed to drive from Glos to Thurso via Carnforth in Lancs without problem. Now if I were a delivery driver or a rep then a totally different situation. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Modern Sat Navs are complete driving aids and include traffic information/warnings/reroutes, speed limit warnings, and advise on best/shortest/quickest routes very accurately with little effort. On top of this they normally have databases and online functions that will find garages/shops/points of interest.

Unfortunately the FL2's system is now quite old and doesn't have any on-line functions. It does however integrate very well with other FL2 systems to provide things like dead reckoning, off road navigation, instrument cluster information, and muting of other systems when announcements are being made.

I tend to use my FL2 built-in system as I use the M5 a lot and my whole local area can become congested as the cars turn off the slow/stopped motorway into our local country roads. In addition to any FL2 warnings I get I use a more modern Garmin Sat Nav with full on line (via my phone) facilities, positioned in windscreen corner, displaying map with speed limits, live speed cameras, traffic, road works, etc.

You can't have too much information these days, as things get hectic, when you all decide to descend on Devon and Cornwall. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

If this was a boat thing & I was getting the message “no gps”, which is essentially what the tw*tnav is telling me, the first thing I’d suspect would be the aerial, if there was a separate one. Has anyone tried a replacement aerial to address this problem?
I do appreciate that the system is (relatively) old hat, but I do like the way it integrates with the rest of the Freelander stuff, as indeed mentioned above.

Here is a case, apparently showing the same problem which has beset my system.
Interesting.

Just in case anyone is interested, the sat nav was working again yesterday. Not optimistic that this situation will last.

Mine had intermittent issues including randomly changing country location. I watched a video which suggested changing the DVD drive unit for a jaguar xf unit as they were much cheaper. Picked one up off eBay for £25 which included the navigation disc. It now works as it should, though displays Jaguar on the navigation interface instead of land rover. I can live with that as the cheapest land rover unit I could find started around £100. Good luck

Don’t know if mine has a DVD drive? It’s a 2013 model.

We have the same problem with ours. Worked beautifully when bought it about two years ago but resets to Belgium every time turn it on.
You can change to U.K. manually but also now doesn't accept postcodes. Most annoyingly can't use the voice option to set a destination or make a phone call - I did find this quite useful.

It has been suggested to me that replacing the battery may help as that's getting old but reading this thread, it sounds like a weird crap fault that there's nothing we can do??

I've just spent £700 getting it through the MOT, can't justify any more (don't mind though, love our Landy even if it has expensive tastes!)
