Taking a chance on appearing a complete nitwit - how do I know if I have a single or multi player?

I was going to load a few and it says press the CD button for over three seconds then follow instructions. After pressing and awaiting nowt happens.
Alternatively it says you can press a number before sticking the CD in, and then subsequent loading with other selected numbers

I press CD, it says load, I do, it takes it, then starts to play.
Is this a single CD unit?
Or do I need a teenager to do it  Now - Black 2012 FR2 SD4 XS really miss the RRS

From the manual:

CD AUTOCHANGER
Loading CDs
To insert a single disc, press the CD button then one of the number buttons (1 to 6). When prompted by the information display, insert the disc, label side up. The autochanger will load the CD in the selected position.
Playing CDs
When in CD mode, press the appropriate CD number (1 to 6) to start playing the selected disc. Playback commences and progresses sequentially through all of the loaded discs. Playback can be paused by briefly pressing one of the other mode buttons (FM or AM). Playback will resume when the CD button is pressed again.

To eject a single disc, select the required disc by pressing one of the number buttons 1 to 6 and then press the eject button. To eject all loaded discs, press and hold the eject button, the discs will be ejected one at a time. Remove disc only when the display shows the message Remove Disc.

You will have 6, numbered black circles at the top right of the display indicating which CD's are loaded / in use. MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

Just had a look at a SD4 XS on auto trader and it states in the listing it only has a single CD unit

While its playing, press '2' and see if it changes to another cd or asks younto put one in. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I have a MY13 XS and while it is a single disc CD to all intents and purposes it does allow you, because of the hard-drive they use within the unit, to load upto 10 CDs.

I haven't tried it yet, but the dealer and the handbook says you can load up to 10 and overwrite them as required. They don't load quickly though apparantly, unlike PC's. (Though if it's my PC the Freelander is still probably quicker!)  Joanne

The audio system in a MY13 is totally different to the system used in MY12 and earlier vehicles.

The easiest way to tell if it is a single slot CD or 6 slot CD is to select the CD function and if it is a 6 slot system a graphic will appear in the radio control panel showing 1 to 6 and which slots have CD's inserted. If no graphic appears it is safe to assume you have a single slot system. My MY11 TD4 XS has both DAB and a 6 slot CD system because that's what I ordered when it was built for me.

In MY13 you have a single slot CD player but can store up to 10 CD's on the hard drive. Loading of CD's is done in real time so tends to be a rather slow process.

Looks like you worked it out that you only have a single unit..

Its a bit late for this image but If it was a Multi unit you will see this when a CD is inserted
