Loud beep after engine starts

Hi, a newbie and I have jsut taken ownership of an 07 plate FL2.

The parking sensors don't work, I changed the fuse and they work the first time. Second time it stops working and the fuse needs replacing. I am going to get this checked out this weekend but if anyone has any ideas as to the fault it would be appreciated!

The other thing, which may/not be related it that after the engine is started there is a single, loud beep that lasts about 2 seconds then stops. This happens every time, is this normal? Does anyone know if it is related to the parking sensor issue?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks

Dan

NOT normal. Most beeps (e.g. low fuel, or low temperature) are two very short beeps. It could well be related to the parking sensor issue.

In the absense of any other faults, I also would be linking the 2 second beep with the failing park sensors.

I predict that fixing the park sensor problem will make the beep go away Thumbs Up

a two second beep happens when you put the car in reverse to tell you your parking sensors are working

do you park up and leave it in reverse? try starting it in neutral Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for all the replies.

The car isn't in gear when the beep occurs, though depending on how quickly I pull away it sometimes happens as I drive away but it is never is reverse!

I guesss I need to start looking at what is causing the parking sensor fuse to blow! Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dan

No suggestions per se, but this may (or may not!) help:

As is usually the case these days the system is far more complex than one might have thought from what it does!

Maybe it could be useful if you tell us from where the 2s loud beep is heard.
From the instruments in front of you or from the speakers of the audio system?

If a fuse is blowing then a wire must be damaged somewhere and earthing I would think? Maybe underneath around the rear valance?

Thanks, good point!

The noise seems to come through the stereo.

I also get an occasional single bleep from the parking sensors as though they kick on then stop!

Very confused now Sad

Then as you've said, it could be related to the parking sensor issue...

Did you ever work this out? Late to the party but I'd say the beep is most definitely caused by the blown PDC fuse. I deliberately removed my fuse (I don't like the PDC) and I get the beep every time I start.
