Received an E-mail offering a complimentary firmware / software update with every service plus an MOT for £29. They wanted to charge £50 for this.

Just booked an "A" service for a Stratstone Swansea for their own branded service using OEM parts for £199 plus MOT. Despite contacting 5 local independents they just couldn't match the price.

I have to say that Stratsones, despite their bad press, have always offered me the best deal on car purchases and services.

I wonder if Liam at LR could be asked for clarification on firmware and software updates.
I have a 2010 GS which was updated in October 2010 when sold by Barrats of Ashford.
I have asked Liam about updates and he told me that my car was up to date, Hunters Derby confirmed this when they hadn't car in February 2013.
So what is the dealer actually selling the buyer with this offer?
Software / firmware is a probable no as there haven't been any in 2 1/2 years.
The MOT certificate is a yes, however always remember that he will get all the repair work needed at LR dealer rates.

Please can Martin copy this over to LR for an official statement on updates.
If LR could keep owners updated on this forum for updates I for one would be happy to pay and have any updates done.

Hi! It would be good to know where LR officially stand on this. I have a 2007 (57 plate) GS and when questioning the service manager at Stratstone Swansea I was told that the only way of checking was to put a laptop on the car which would cost roughly £50 or was included in the LR official £299 "A" service.

I did ask if there was any record kept of the last time a firmware / software date was checked but unfortunately this hasn't been recorded in their logs.

Have printed off the E-mail just in case it is questioned however when booking the service rep took the booking she did note the MOT and software offer. It's booked in for the 28th of this month so I'll update you all then.

Although it sounds as if I'm questioning the Stratstone Swansea staff, so far I am pretty pleased with the customer service and pricing.
