Wading Depth - another warning sound?

I recently came across a pair of fords (the wet ones, not the ones with wheels).

Before I went through them I got out and checked the depth, which as far as I could tell would be about 500mm – the nominal maximum depth for the FL2. I drove through with no problems at all.

I later returned, having been along a muddy track, and TR (Mud+Ruts) was still on.

This time when I got into deep water a continuous warning sound came on, which stopped as I started to come up the far side, then did exactly the same at the next ford.

When I looked at someone's video that they took of my crossing it showed that the water level had come close to the top of the wheels, so the actual depth was more like 650mm than 500mm.

Does anyone know if there is a depth warning, and if so why it only came on when TR was on? (The water level was the same both times)

interesting, i am not aware of any depth gauge

though it could have been the parking sensors if they had been activated by selecting reverse and they driving slowly across.

Don't forget to post a link to your video on youtube, you know we all want to see a FL2 get Muddy and Wet Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Possibly, but I didn't select reverse before going through the fords, and anyway the sound was continuous, not a beep-beep-beep, and not as loud as the parking sensors

I will have a look at that possibility, but haven't used YouTube before, so will see how I get on!

In the meantime here is a 'still' taken from the video (hence the poor resolution)

could still be the parking sensors

when an object gets too close they do go into a continuous beeping tone

and the water in volumes such as a river/ford crossing will give the continuous tone

To find out if this is correct you have to drive across again and switch the sensors off and on,

Its an excuse to get out and muddy again, if the other half askes Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Never understood quoted wading depths. My much loved Freda F/L1 3dr was something like 400mm but the air intake was located at the rear top corner of the frt wing, she would have floated before ingesting water and was happy wading well above the quoted figure. So I just do not know whether it is a stationary or dynamic measurement. What I do know for certain is that if the water gets upto the level of the LHS Frt Wing Air Intake on F/L2 then you are *****d. Got the Hunters dear. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

To get the picture to appear in the post you have to have the image locatation on the web,

in my case, copied the location from my Gallery (ie a photo that has been uploaded onto the web off my computer)

you then paste is to the post a reply box you are writing in, Like below

then highlight it, then click The "IMG" button above

[im]https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10408/thumb_camcorder%20136.JPG[/im]

it will look like this but I have edited the text in the [ ] boxes at the start and end should have the word IMG

if i put the G in you would get

this

Hope it helps, you can obviously link to off site pictures as well

If your going to post a picture from your FL2 gallery copy the BBCode or BBCode Full Size just below the image Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hello, i'd like to know from PepperPot if water crossed the bottom seal of the door: rubber mats were still dry or not after wading?

Thanks
