The MOT is a bit like the Pink Slip!

Even Coast Auto Detailing can get your car looking good for registration!

Not shown in this photo, but they will even remove the rear window if the glass is broken!

The confusing bit is in Australia every State has a different system. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thinking that the Aussie pink slip is the same as the UK MOT - fairly sure that the test is now timed in the UK, the examiner logs on with the car details and he can't actually give you a certificate for 50 minutes or so.

Only in that it occurs every 12 months! It really is only a basic safety check & takes about 15 minutes. A motorbike one takes about 5 minutes! Rolling with laughter (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

In NSW the Pink Slip (MOT) test for the brakes stopping ability, so as not to discriminate against olders cars, the braking ability test is based on the oldest road registered car in NSW.

Which is a registered car about a century old with well maintained leather brake pads.

So if you Freelander has a worse braking distance, you may have some brake issues!

It may even be the car parked near us. I will have to get a photo. It is actually quite sad to see such an ancient car left in such a state. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Picked it up from the mechnic. Again. A failed fuel tank pump. This is getting very painful. For my mechanic too. He was very tempted to cut an access panel in the boot rather than remove the tailshaft, diff, exhaust and tank to get to the pump.

I wish he had asked me - I'd have said go for it. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

In the past, I have asked when getting the Pink Slip, have you checked the brakes. The device can be held in the hand & shaken to a stop in the right direction at the rate to match the typical brake deceleration. Quicker than putting the box on the floor of the car & driving around the block! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

After my wife passed away 15 months ago , I decided to keep her FL2 as my Hunting,Shooting, Fishing and chainsawing vehicle . Last week I looked at the car and felt sorry for it . Mud , feathers, pheasant feed you name it it was there . At the local BP station , 3 lads have taken over the car wash and are running a valet service . I took it to them today , £60 and 7 hours later later and the thing is cleaner inside than the day we picked it up from a main dealer 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
