Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

I had an experience in Tesco's. two stunning polish girls washed my car in skimpy vests and bra less. they asked me if I could drop them off at nearest train station. On the way there one of them carried out a sexual act on me while the other pinched my wallet
I am warning people as this happened to me on Monday Wednesday and twice on Friday!!!!

What is valeters opinion ?

Use these cheap & cheerfull places at your Peril.
Trust me I have seen them work. I have a friend who was a good valeter & he for a laugh once had an old banger 7 took it into a local place for an interior steam clean - They cleaned the interior with a Pressure Washer....... Shocked

I have spoken to many people who have taken their cars into these places & said to me when they got home & looked at the car they found new scratches all over the bonnet in particular.

POINTS TO NOTE.....

You drive your car to the place so you have Hot Wheels....You should not wash hot wheels unless you are at home with warm water & dry them immediately. You will see them with their canister of truck wash which they will be waving all over your wheels then car body. This can usually bleach the wheels, not quite so bad if you have sandard alloys or wheel trims but painted or diamond turned wheels you have had it!!
Spraying jets of cold water all over the wheels can also cause the brake discs to warp so be warned.

They have a big trough of soapy water (not car shampoo) & they have big wash mitts that get thrown to the trough but often miss & land in all that nice grit, plus when you drive in they may have just used the wash mitt on the previous Landrover Discovery's muddy door sills!!

While they have their wand in their hand they will be spraying truck wash all over your paint - Not only will this strip off any wax/polish/sealant you have but it will also bleach the paint, moreso in the sun. It will also make window rubbers/trims go blotchy/bleached.
You allways soak a car before cleaning.
I use non caustic (Autoglym) Traffic Film Remover/truck wash) but only on cold wheels, door shuts with a detailing brush, engine bays etc & it is rinsed immediately.
It can be used on paint to really clean it to cleanse the paint before a polish/sealant is applied.

I am not the cheapest but I treat a customers car as my own (you only have to look at the thread about the FL2 the dealer loaned me to see that). I am very fussy indeed.

I hope this helps. I know that all cheap places arn't the same but 98% are. Plus if you ever have a problem with those places they allways deny it & or get the big fat boss to get rid of you.

BE Warned Things are cheap for a reason! I have this so many times why would I want to pay mobile valeting prices when I can get it done for £15 = Answers are above + if you work out what I charge for the duration of a valet then compare it with a cheap place & how long they actually spend on the car in time terms I then work out cheaper in real terms.... (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Valeter thank you for taking the time to respond, I do find it staggering that the local bosny wash can valet a car for £50, it took me all day to do the disco inside and out, I would love to learn how to valet properly , all this snow stuff clay bars etc.

If you think about it why does a freelander cost 25-30k when a Dacia cost 9k , what's the difference , it must be the same for valeters.

I don't let even the dealer wash my car, let alone East Europeans.
I do it myself and take great care is doing so with upmteen buckets to keep my CarPro mitt clean .
The Valeter offers sound advice Thumbs Up

I'm suprised that the supermarkets allow this sort of thing to go on.
Maybe you sould tell 'em that you're from HM Customs and watch the response Rolling with laughter Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Great reply from The Valeter and if you watch 99.9% of these Eastern European valeting places in action - that's exactly what happens - food for thought there.........

The one by me has a procession of cars waiting to be "cleaned" most days and all they want to do is get them in and out as fast as possible. Yes, the previous mud plugging Disco hand mitt will be used on your vehicle, and turn your bonnet into what looks like the local icerink after a 1/2 price school holiday session - not pretty!!!!

Anybody recommend an independent boney-fide valeter in the Solihull area? Think I'll stay clear of the "other" lot.

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies guys. Bow down I've looked all over the Internet to find a car valeting service and I have found a few. I'm planning to get the car valeted at least once a year, sometimes do it myself and get the local car wash to do it the rest of the time (they usually do a good job).

Chris

Drove past the local car wash this evening, the drying leather was laid on the floor in the mud and grit and the plonked was jet washing them clean Shocked nothing like a bit of grit on a chamois when drying a car, keeps paint correction detailers in business Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

My fl2 is over five years old now but the paintwork is in amazing condition for one reason only.
No eastern Europeans have been near it and it has never entered a car wash...plus i have spent hundreds of pounds on detailing stuff...27k car and you want a cheap clean....The logic amazes me..

The hand car wash I go to has always been good. £18 in and out is not too bad. I tend to wash the car myself during summer, but not when it's 3C outside. I'm planning on getting some leather cleaner/protector, anyone know any good brands?

Cheers

Chris
