Is it possible to run an FL2 with the prop shaft removed. I am trying to trace a vibration problem that appears to be in the drivetrain.

Honest answer do not know, you could and almost inevitably did on FL1.
In fact there are many out there think they have 4x4 but there is no prop.

With the FL2 i would expect issues with the computer getting info from rear wheels/diff but not being coupled to the output ? (GONE) FL2 2008 SE (manual) Santorini Black, the expensive one

We tried this when the prop failed on our disco 2. It wouldn't run as the centre diff couldn't lock.

Looking at how the FL electronics don't lock the driveline up until you have about 1500 rpm on I would imagine it won't work. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Thanks for your replies lads. I had a feeling the electronics / computer would stop me doing this. Back to the drawing board then.

When the Haldex is malfunctioning (see Haldex problems with Traction Reduced messages), the system is "disconnecting" it and therefore you have a front wheel drive car. "Disconnecting" Haldex is the same with removing prop-shaft.
So, in my opinion, the car will work OK, as a FWD car as the Haldex doesn't have an RPM sensor to monitor the input and give you an error.
Just don't disconnect physically the electrical connection to the Haldex, in order to avoid errors and messages.
