Lowa Combat GTX boots

Anyone wear them or similar?

http://www.bootshopuk.com/lowa-combat-boot-gtx.html

Thinking of getting a pair for shooting in, getting cold feet is not fun and they should give better support on the uneven ground

They get some really good reviews from the army types Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

i've had a pair of Lowa's. They're really good boots, and they last and last. Keep, them polished and they'll be fine. easy to get resoled as well.

I only buy British when it comes to boots. Thumbs Up
Have a few pairs, various types and all very very good, get yourself up to the factory shop and try them, very helpful and accommodating, lower your voice a couple of octaves, sound like an officer and you might get a brew too Laughing

It all depends on what they feel and more importantly fit like.
Could be the most raved about boots on the planet, but if they dont fit your foot shape, they will be useless.

Ive lost count of the amount of times ive heard people moan about the boots they buy. Its pretty simple really, buy one that fits.

Altberg fitted mine very carefully at the factory, it is very important what you have said, buying online with that sort of product is fraught with pain later on.
Squaddies out tabbing swear by them, there may well be a few in the shop when you go.

That's what I'm worried about, I can't find a local stockiest the sells these to try them on

The reviews rave about them been so comfy, but can't find out if I'll need an 11 or 11.5 etc

Might have to email one of my landlords, been in the army he might know a local stockest, especially with the barracks that are not too far away Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Quite like the look of these, and the factory made to measure option sounds perfect Smile ad not too far away at Richmond too

I've looked at magnums wasn't that impressed, just didn't feel like it ticked the boxes I wanted

I think a trip to Richmond is in the cards now, not only for boots but a trip to look at a gun shop there, buying me/my son an air rifle all been well shortly too

But, A little extra on fitting, hopefully not a fully made to measure waterproof boot will last me a good while, get me out in the wilds walking and getting fitter whilst away on holiday this year

But first, I have to finalise my grandads funeral for next week, sort the will out etc

If I was buying a new pair again, I would actually look at Altberg. Squaddies will give boots a good workout, and if they're buying them, they must be good. Boots have come a long way since I was issued with my DMS patterns in the early 80's. They were awful. Big Cry

I spend a huge amount of time outdoors in all conditions. I'm not sure if you are only considering a full leather boot but if you are flexible I would take a look at salomon quest 4d's. You can wear them straight out of the box, they weigh next to nothing, support the ankle superbly and have proved hard wearing and totally waterproof. US special forces wear them so I think that says it all. I have a pair of salomon cosmic 4d's too but they are not as durable as the quests. I agree with one of the early posts-you really do need to try the boot on before buying. Salomon for example fit one size too small, Asolo tend to be narrower than other boots, Scarpa can make a mess of your achilles for certain foot shapes due to the shape of their heel cup etc etc.
