Hi everbody
The forum clearly identifies that engine oil should be purchased that meets the Ford spec for the applicable engine ie either oil for Non DPF cars or different spec oil for the faclift 2011 spec cars with DPF (reference UK market).
What is the relative difference and advantage to 'us the user' whether we buy lower cost semi synthetic or pay more and buy full synthetic oil?
My car is 2010 Non DPF and is currently running the cheaper Semi synthetic which I put in with the intention of cleaning out the engine for a thousand miles before changing the oil and filter; now I am wondering if i should change it as its running so clean after my first 800 miles. 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

...there is a lot of diferences between semi and fully synthetic oils - to describe them would take very long post.
As you will not damage your engine by using semi synthetic oil the fully synthetic oil can do its work much better.The main advantages are quicker lubrication of all engine parts after cold start where most of engine wear occurs (camshafts,turbocharger etc..) Fully synthetic oil also makes significantly less carbon deposits which are harmful for the engine (oil pump,turbo,valve adjusters etc.....)

Oil is the blood of the engine so its not worth to save on it.

If it makes less carbon is it better for the cat and dpf ?

For DPF you have to use only special oils with reduced sulphate ash volume as regular oils include fully synthetic will fill up the DPF quite quickly - these oils are often marked as C1 ,C3,C4 .
