I have just been quoted £325 + VAT for a replacement remote,!!!

Is this correct and is there any alternative ?

You can get them on Fleabay for about £80 and then pay a about £40 to get it programmed. However, beware second hand units as they cannot be reprogrammed. You need to ensure the fob is new and in a sealed packet from a genuine seller.

Plus, you don't say if you have actually lost a key, but there has been a thread on here about it invalidating your insurance unless you have both keys reprogrammed (can't quite remember but a search may throw it up). The idea being that someone finding the lost key nearby could identify the car (pressee button flashee lightee) and drive off with same.

Theyre probably thinking house door keys for £5 each and not a car key for £400, they will say go through your car insurer and lose your no claims.

Do you need to replace the key because you have loose it ??? Or has it stopped working because of a flat battery ??

If it's because of a flat battery, You can replace the battery if your careful !!
Let face it, it's scrap and is £300.00 plus to replace. so why not have a go, you have nothing to loose.

The battery is about £10.00 from Flee -bay and need to to be un-solid-ed from the pcb and re-solid-ed back on to the pcb carefully this will take about 20 minutes.

The fun part is getting the key fob apart with out damaging it, with care and a little super glue at hand this can be done.
Saving of £300.00 plus, There is no re-coding needed.

I know this because my (my old key fob with a flat battery) has been back in use for 12 months and cost me about £10.00 to fix and 40 minute of my time.
I don't earn £300 plus an hour but I did save that much on fixing my Key Fob.

Contacted CPP today and they confirmed they would cover costs up tp £1000 , includes key with fob and programming

Why claim on your insurance and thereby increase your next year's premium when a new battery is so cheap. All you need is battery from eBay, a sharp blade, a bit of care and some super glue. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

I thought CCP was basically for keys that have been lost? not just packed up?
I suppose I could claim for a new front door key on that basis because the chromes coming off a bit, is it not a slight lie?

Er - we don't know whether the key was lost or packed up, but the OP's posts rather suggest th former.

It was lost as per original post !

As an aside I did get the price changed to £194 for fob and programming ( no Key) but as I can claim I will add the key. It has to be done via a main dealer and a recipt from same produced
