Been driving a Freelander 2 for 3 years. It is due to replace brakes.
Local dealer quoted me a fancy price. Thinking of getting some aftermarket supplies, anyone has any suggestion or experience of a good set of aftermarket pads?

I fitted ferodo rear pads and discs, seemed fine, but sold car 6mths later so not 100%, way cheaper than genuine and probably just as good.
Get hand brake shoes when you do the rears, either change them while the disc is off or take them back if not needed. they corrode due to lack of real use (in UK atleast), you may need handbrake adjusters too if corroded, not sure if you can get these non genuine.

I ended up buying genuine handbrakes as the local aftermarket guys could get them much cheaper but it would take two days and my car was on axle stands at the time  At work

Hey, I just changed my rear discs and pads.

I live in Perth so it was hard to source them locally but luckily I have a good friend working at a Holden dealership and he ordered me some RDA extreme brake discs and pads through their parts department.
The cost was $250 all up and we changed them in 20 mins on our own

They were shipped from Sydney I think, you should have a look into it.

I'd consider changing the expanders in the rear drums too. They have a habit of seizing up. 2002 Honda VFR800

I used EBC green pads & Britpart cross drilled/vented discs on the Freelander 1. Really pleased with those.

Changed my rear disks and pads last month- paid £65 for both on fleabay for genuine items

Only thing was they were not in original packaging and despite a few cosmetic marks they were perfect.

Just did my rears this weekend.

I bought RDA extremes from a place in Coopers Plains called 'All Carbitz'. The rotors were $120ea and the pads were $70 for the set. A fairly easy job to do.

I was doing to to alleviate some wheel noise I found and reported in this thread. The noise persists but I think it might be the hand brake now. I would replace your hand brake shoes at the same time, though I am not too sure if they are as simple to replace, there were a few springs in there!

I put a set of RDA pads on the front about 30,000kms ago too. They have been good, very little dust and not overly grabby or anything. They were a recommended brand from a family friend who runs his own brake and exhaust garage down south.

Try Eurocarparts. I have used pagid discs and pads and swear by them.

Does anyone know of a good service center (other then the dealer) to do the brake replacement?

Any recommendations, especially up on the north shore would be welcome.
