It's to do with the anti stall system, if you leave it in any gear with revs below 1000 it will accelerate to 1000 revs with no driver input, nothing to worry about. |

Hmm... Not good. Not good at all. You should keep the RPM over at least 1500 RPM at all times. This if you don't want to have a clogged turbo variable geometry in a short time. Because you accelerate from time to time, isn't it? And accelerating from below 1.5k will generate much more smoke than accelerating from over 1.5k... I know, it will ruin your MPG, but it is a turbo diesel engine, not a gasoline one... |

The newer manuals do - then again haven't managed to stall the auto either |

My ghange up indicator light always comes on way below 2000 revs, usually about 1700 revs and a change up at those revs from 4th to 5th or 5th to 6th bogs the engine down at less than 1000 revs i usually change up at 2000, giving a change over revs of about 1300 or so . |

You can stall it, Ive stalled mine a couple of times, but it always restarts itself anyway. I doubt it would go up a 45 degree incline without stalling if you didnt press the accelerator. But I have experienced the so called anti stall feature in high gear at low rpm, and it does try to accelerate up to a point |

The anti stall feature should help prevent a stall but not totally prevent it, I imagine it would be a serious safety issue if the latter was the case. |

Right, I didn't think I had it on my 07 model (was forever stalling in reverse!). Sounds impressive. |

The hill start only works when you have HDC on prior to Coming to a stop and the angle is very steep (not sure on degree) |

Pinky beat me to it, "hill start" as you call it, only works with HDC on and steep slope, it doesnt "hold" the car, it just releases the brake line pressure very slowly to allow better control.

The latest model year (MY2013) has both Gradient Release Control which works when HDC is switched on and Hill Start Assist which works when HDC is not switched on. Both GRC and HSA are designed to assist you in restarting on a steep hill by holding the brakes momentarily while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal. |
