On my way to work today in a 1cm of snow Very Happy

I pulled into the carpark of the local spar and prodeeded to have fun on the slippy surface.

I put my foot to the floor and the DSC jumped in straight away, then did the same with Snow/gravel selected and there was no slipping of the wheels. Very Happy

Left it in snow mode till i got to the office, and just been out again and the car was back in normal mode.

Does the car select normal mode after each restart Question or should it remain in the mode selected Question  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

When you turn off the ignition the computer reboots to onroad mode as default next time you start. DSC will also be engaged again How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

I think I read in the Manual that the last mode selected is kept active for several hours. Meaning that if you go shopping, drop the kids off etc - then you don't have to continually reselect a special mode. Longer than that - the default (road) mode is automatically selected.

When I say shopping & dropping the kids off etc, I actually mean a spot of windsurfing, snowboarding, basejumping etc etc Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

The first time I ever skied was in the lake district We used my defender to drive up the hill - on the road jumped into a steep field then skied down (sort of!) one of us drove the landy down each time to return us to the top. I moved on from there going to Andorra, Austria and my favourite Meribel

Did anyone else notice the mpg drop when using the snow TR program?

Hopefully I'll be taking the FL2 up to Glenshee ( Sheep ) on Sat/Sun for a slide about on the board. just need the roads to open.
And I'm off to Austria last week of Feb (after half-term!) but I'll be driving a 9 seater hire bus, not quite as much fun! Big Cry

When i have put the car into snow it increased my mpg Shocked

This was in the summer when towing my caravan in was on the motorway doing a steady 65mph, not a problem but i was getting 18mpg Shocked . On my old car i had to lock the car in to 4x4, so my thinkng was snow gravel setting would do this. i re reset the mpg after this and i was getting 25mpg.

So i left it on, had the garage inspect the car after my hols and they found no faults, and could understand why, bar blaming me and the caravan.

They said the TR setting remapped the accelerator pedel and reduced the responsivness.

PS. this was shown to me in the LRE, set the rev's to 2500 switch the TR setting and keeping the foot in exact position the rev's alter Cool Bit of knowledge there for the next pub quiz Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Lucky b*****d !! Thumbs Up

Going to Val d'Isere & Livigno soon. Val is upper 122cm and lower 87cm, at the moment.

Chamonix lower at 20cm is a bit thin - but maybe you never make it down that far after all the drinking Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up
