Definitely worth a look

You mentioned that mid boots would be ok for you but try these and see what you think. It feels a little strange at first as I had mid boots before but these will be really good when walking in deeper snow or if it hammers it down with rain. I have some gore tex trousers which will easily cover the top of the boots so no danger of rain or snow getting in there LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I do prefer mid boots, or shoes types as i often just wear them for day to day shoes instead of trainers

I considered those when browsing The North Face website but opted for the Arctic Hedgehog boots even though they were dearer. I just like the style more and got them for £96 which saved a fair amount off the RRP LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Finally got round to buying my replacement shoes

Opted for Salomon X Ultra GTX GoreTex shoes

Tried them on at Ellis Brigham and decided they fit but they would not honour a 10% discount without a ski club voucher so I walked away from buying them for £109

I ordered online last night at 17:10 for £78.00 and a Helly Hansen Parka for the wife from a online company called field & Trek

Opted for £3.99 standard postage as with Christmas it wasnt going to come anytime soon

BUT today I got a call from the office to say two parcels had arrived

Now that's service and for the money saved it was excellant to say the least

Fingers crossed this mild wet weather won't last much into January. I dare say those folks down south would much prefer cold frosty temps to yet more rain. Even snow would be preferable to rain for them. That said, I have worn my boots in the heavy rain and they proved to be up to the job as yours will be.

I find that once I've found something comfy it's best to stick to the same make. Quite a lot of trainers and boots don't seem to fit my feet - Salomon trainers and Scarpa boots were both painful and had to be given away. On the other hand I wear North Face almost every day, have found Brashers best for walking (but won't take crampons) and for general waterproofness Lundhags are great, but put Lambswool insoles in to keep warm. Because they are waterproof however the feet can't breathe and I can't wear them for more than about ten miles without blisters. Friends swear by Scarpas, so it must just be my feet that are weird!.

My brashers were comfy but the latest style of the same shoe wasn't to my liking so I've ended up with trainer style till I find something else, it's more for everyday and walking around campsites wet grass I need them for, as the wife still says no to the purchase of a dog
