a friend had a similar experience a few years ago when the "new"d4 came out,he got his and came round so we could have a look and compare our d3.
we went out for a run 20miles or so got back home very impressed,half an hour later they were leaving,got in car would not start the fuel guage showed 1/4 of a tank so no worry there .landrover recovery disco turned up,plugged car in and checked a few things then said you are out of fuel!
it seems on the earlier d4,s there was a problem with the fuel guage in the tank being fixed with a special adhesive(german adhesive)which was coming unstuck,ended up on a transporter being taken back to Maidstone dealership and fixed,not a happy chap. gone
P38 v8 auto no problems,great howle from exhausts when giving it welly
Td5 auto head gasket,no5 pot not uncommon but good car.
1st Tdv6s manual epb problem fixed under warranty(stealer said"never heard of this before,i suggested he looked at d3 forum.
2nd Tdv6 se auto epb
3rd Tdv6 xs auto 2008,swmbo,s favourite.
