LRA been out, and it did it to him also when connected to his laptop, but no fault code, god knows what the dealers are going to do now, they dont have a computer to tell them what to swap Laughing

His feeling were a pcb board in the dash, but he check a clip on some connector near the fuse box as he had seen them come loose Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Npinks, any joy with this. Mines started doing it all the time.

Team valley landrover estimate 400ish to change the unit. Also chipped windscreen on the way to the garage, I'm not happy tonight. Nevermind

Also forgot to add driving normally it drops to nothing then and a right hand turn shoots back up again. Strange one.

Also had our replaced and also on the 3rd visit,

Visit 1: told to keep and eye on it, maybe it was going to do a magic trick?
Visit 2: Software update which fixes 99.9% of issues, yeah right!
Visit 3: fuel senders finally replaced.

Told by stealer that LR know about issue but not replace sendors until third visit, so all you members out there get it back before it's out of warranty Cool

My brother's 2007 HSE has started to show the same behaviour with increasing frequency. His Indie garage could find no faults recorded when they hooked his car up to the pc but he agreed that it could indeed be the sender units when I mentioned the problem was well known on this site. At the moment brother is struggling to decide what to do as solution is costly and he's hoping it might just go away!

My 2010 XS promptly decided it didn't want to be left out so played a similar game with me. So far only happened once, on start up low fuel gauge light lit up and fuel gauge showed less than a quarter of a tank when I knew there was at least 3/4 of a tank of fuel. It stayed like that for about half a mile then the gauge very slowly rose over the next mile of the journey. All has been well since. This is slightly different to the experiences listed here I know but I am hoping it is not some variation of the problem.

Would like to say what a helpful and useful this forum is. Thanks to FREEL2.com and those members who contribute so generously I have already been able to identify and fix non working volumetric alarm and advise my brother about his problem (and maybe have some clue about a potential fuel sender issue on my own car).

That's exactly how my problem started, and it then took three visits over a period of 6 months get it sorted. I had left it for a while as it only happened around the 1/4 to 1/2 tank mark, but some six months down the line it was doing it all of the time, I had to watch the mileometer count in the end between fill ups. The failure you have won't go away. Get on to LR for fixing, they know about this problem.
Good luck. Wink

Thanks for that info! In fact it has happened again today and again it was 3/4 full but showed 1/4 or less and took longer to correct itself. As it happens the car is going in next week for some other very small issues but I think I am going to mention this so that it is at least recorded with them. I have 6 month warranty till Sept so imagine they might want to see if the problem develops at all but from what I have read here that's a cert so will expect some action from the dealer in getting the problem corrected whilst under warranty.

Love the car but it will need to behave itself if it's going to be a keeper!

Hi folks my first post so please be gentle with me. My 2010 GS bought in January has in the last couple of days had a similar problem. The fuel indicator on 2 occasions hasn't moved when I started the engine but after restarting it moved as normal. Is this likely to be the start of fuel sender problems ?
Love the site and the banter .

Hi everybody! I have the same problem when I bought my FL2 2010 HSE 3.2 petrol. The gauge always sign zero fuel. Then I spent about $250 for a Fuel Sender #2 (not the pump). I got the answer using a simple DTC that show all the faults with codes.

SOLVED the fault (it was october 2012)! But, a few months ago the fault comes again. When the gauge is under 1/2 the point down to empty. IŽll check again with my mechanic. I donŽt believe it could be the SAME Censored again! Evil or Very Mad

IŽll be back with the answer.

Good luck to everybody!

It happened to me yesterday Sad . After filling the tank, fuel indicator now shows that I only have half of the tank left.

I will replace the whole unit, sender and pump. According to Microcat, for my VIN number (SALFA28C17H012650), the matching part number is LR005622. Now Famousfour, http://www.famousfour.co.uk/lrparts/lr_page.php?partID=445107, tells me that LR005622 is superseded by LR038602. In between these two there are other two releases, LR010434 and LR029280.

I'm confused, what is the correct part number ? I'm tempted to buy the newest one, but I'm afraid that it will not fit properly.
