Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Its not realy that hard to do. Dont look at it as a whole but rather as many tasks that follow each other one after the other.
If people doing the work think in stages like compleate A then move on to B and so on its realy not so bad.
Im an Electrician By trade and when wiring very large fuse boards with hundreads of wires it looks mind blowing to others but its like dot to dot if you follow a few simple rules. Thumbs Up

Hi

Finally got my car sorted out. The fuel sender tank has been replaced (and touch wood) so far so good and all for the bargain price of £323!! Very Happy

Whilst there they noticed my rear hand brake shoes needed replacing though so this cost me another £85!! With new shoes should this make my handbrake more efficient?? If anything it seems worse??? Question

Just had my fuel sender replaced under guarantee.....
Now when i start the car i hear clonk ! As if the exhaust is hitting on something....
Of course being a stop & start model it goes clonk each time it starts !
No comment ! They fix one thing and damage another !

Hi Sammie,

I took the car back to them, the noise was a heat shield from the dpf filter, which had warped and was touching the body.
They tightened the bolts...
5 minutes in total...

I had this problem with 57 plate just recently , last week in fact it had to be towed to garage as it would not start. I had experienced this problem with fuel gauge dropping off scale not long after I bought 2nd hand but it always happened when I was driving and always went away after a while. When I tried to start last tuesday it was showing the same fault and intermittently returning to 3/4 full after attempted starts. It was taken to a specialist diesel mechanic who replaced the throttle assembly and so far it appears ok but I have only been driving for a couple of days so fingers crossed but the fuel gauge has not dropped off so far. Cost of repair was £300 incl VAT parts & labour.However the dealer paid 2/3rds of the cost.Mileage is 115600

Mine is an 07 SE and at least once a month you can drive along watching the fuel gauge and miles remaining drop to zero. After a varying amount of time or miles both start to climb back up to original position. The first I notice is when the low fuel warning comes on. I now ignore it, but always reset a trip when I refuel so I know if I have fuel or not. 2007 TD4 SE Manual Santrini Black

Breakdown waiting to happen - sorry

LR have chosen not to fit a proper lift pump in the tank. So the excuse for a fuel pump mounted at the other end of the fuel line connot hope to prime itself. Result if you run out of fuel, you have to manually prime the system using a fuel pump that you happen to have rolling around in the tool kit in the boot.
Not good for LR reputation if dozens (hundreds?) of motorists a week are calling the AA because they have run low on fuel and even after refilling the tank, cannot start the car.

Solution - when the fuel gauge says ther is 5 litres of fuel left, warn the driver by putting the car in limp mode.
- after 12 miles cut the engine, that way the car will only need priming when the fuel filter is changed.

A note of caution, the AA guy who came out to mine spent an hour trying to bleed the system, and only gave up when the battery eventually went flat.

Upshot is if either of the fuel gauges gives up you are stranded, if they read high you run out of fuel and cannot bleed it. If they read low, the engine cuts out with upteen litres still onboard. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Since having the fuel sender unit replaced I can only fit 45 litres of fuel into the tank but it should hold 68 litres .... Does anyone know if you can buy 2 sizes of the unit or do I still have a problem????
