from what you say it appears to flash banding,stuck down by heat and a primer if used right You will have to re do it |

Even if it is flash banding it should have been taken up to the brick course above, turned into a raked joint and then the joint made good with mortar.

That's what I thought, might be easier to get a mate out and t it sorted correctly |

Just a suggestion, try getting another length of the same material, rake out the joint insert and overlay the original flashing, seal the joint with mortar.

I was thinking of over layering it, but I think the roof will need to come out to give access to it |
