Automatic box - towing

Anyone had any problems? I once had a disaster with an automatic (not a LR I hasten to add) when towing my caravan - the box overheated and turned the oil to water consistency!

I was impressed by the Commandshift/Auto box when I went on an off road day and fancy one.

Pete, I have an FL2 auto, and I can strongly recommend it for towing. No problems with visiting France twice now with the van, including having to negotiate the never-ending roadworks around the M25. It's a beauty. And I thought my FL1 was the dog's b..ks.

Towing is one thing all Land Rovers can do with ease, even the autos - the boxes all have coolers as standard. LR knows that more owners buy them for towing than buy them for playing off road How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green

Thanks for that. I suspected as much but once bitten...

Cheers - by April I hope to be one of you guys! It's a major outlay (easily the most I've ever spent on a vehicle) but the 'Boss' and I are thinking 'there's no pockets in a shroud' so a Freelander 2 and a more modern 'van (fixed bed - bliss!) will give us the set up to enjoy our 'golden years' (yes, the kids are now grown up!) heading off into the hills and parts foreign as much as possible.

Everyone on here seems rather impressed with theirs, even the ones that have a few problems. I loved the one I drove on my LRE day. Can't wait.... Thumbs Up

You will love it Pete honest. My first motor was a sow's ear, but I knew in my heart the car was good. The relacement auto is a dream come true. Total FL2 miles to date 18K (13Kin FL2 mark 1, and 5K plus in FL2 mark 2) evn with the problems on Mark 1 still had a smile for every mile Thumbs Up
