My park distance control not working.
Small beep when I start the engine.
When reverse selected the light flashes on the P button, but the sensors don't work.
I can't be alone - any ideas, faulty sensor?
Its not the usual one when they get wet, I know about that.

Silly question but are the sensors clean????????????? Have you turned on the ignition select reverse and walked arround the car to see if they bleep, you can get some one to pass their hand near each one to check if any are working.

Yes the car is spotless.
The sensors don't work at all.
As soon as pdc is selected whether from reverse or by pressing the button it flashes a few times then goes off.

Is your radio working as ther was a problem affecting audio and parking sensors requiring a remap. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.
- GCS Hawke - Sports, BRG, Vulcan 2.1 inj'. My toy - built it myself in 2001.

Fairly straightforward. Tools needed are No 2 Pozi Screwdriver, T30 Torx, T25 Torx, small flat terminal driver.

1 Remove taillights (in handbook)
2 Remove treadplate, slide firmly back, unhook front and lift off
3 Using flat screwdriver lift up the middle portion on the push rivets under the treadplate and pull out (they are not screws).
4 Remove 6 screws under bumper along edge including 2 at back of wheel arches
5 Remove 1 Torx screw in the back of each wheel arch retaining liner, push in liner (it will catch nicely on the tyre to hold it out of the way)
6 Remove 2 further screws beneath each liner, above and below the screw removed in 5
7 Pull the bumper ends outwards from the sides of the car, it is just clipped in place, levers should not be needed and may damage the paint
8 Disconnect the loom plug behind the offside wheel inside the bumper
9 Remove the 2 screws, 1 each side below the tail light fixing points. I leave these until last to hold the bumper while I do everything else as they are easy to get to as a final step.
10 Lift off the bumper and lay it on a non scratch surface

I will try and do some pics when I do the tow bar tomorrow. Prog rock is cool!

Hi, just thought I'd give an update on my problem. I went to my local independent garage and they plugged in their computer, which indicated one of the front middle sensors (drivers side) was faulty. Replaced sensor and all now working OK, until it rains. The new sensor is a plain black one not colour coded in blue paint, might leave unpainted as expensive to repare (£200) - will paint affect sensor life? I hope the other sensors don't go faulty, as not cheap since access difficult (front bumper off). Old sensor looks OK with no sign of damage or corrosion, should they last longer than 5 years?

Update on the parking sensors.

Turned out to be one of the front ones, drivers side inner.
Ordered a used rear one from ebay for 16 quid before.
As mentioned could not work out which one wasn't working but the rears look most exposed.
Took to independant who charged 117 quid to plug in, remove bumper and replace dodgy front sensor with the rear one i got off ebay, which worked.
Doesn't matter about colour coding with black, which is nice.
Anyway, wish I ad tried removng this sensor myself as it had a lump out of it from a stone.

Oh well, its done now and working fine so the missus can park again!
