HDC Control

Hi all,

Been using the hdc control of late and when turned on in second gear it's flashes up "HDC not available in this gear" but all of a sudden it engages, not a problem for me but should this happen?

Cheers

Will also do the same in Neutral should you wish to give it a go.

Works in second manual providing the speed isn't above 30 mph Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

That's odd. Mine deffo works in 2nd but not much good on the flat. Taz's auto works on the flat better than my manual. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Works fine in both 1st and 2nd in my manual. You've got to refrain from using any of the pedals otherwise HDC will disconnect. Control your speed using the cruise controls on the steering wheel.

Thanks guys used today down a local 1:3 hill and works a treat. One other question, was up in the moors yesterday and came across a very icey decent, would HDC help out much on such a slippery surface? Must admit had a brown panties moment as it was a long decent with a narrow stone bridge at the bottom and i struggled to keep the car in a straight line. Shocked
Cheers

Certainly should help as it will choose to brake wheels which have grip and aid engine braking (in a manual). The LRE cars are all auto's and they have no problems.

Two winters ago I used to use HDC regularly on my F1 to descend a nearby hill in snow/ice conditions : it proved to be a very safe way of negotiating this obstacle. All went well until better half tried to go down this hill without using HDC ; result-skid,spin,roll,write off. I haven't had to use HDC in anger on this hill yet but on dry runs the car initially maintains a slow speed in 2nd (after slowing the car down on the level first using gears) but lurches forward after a few seconds tempting me to dab the brakes. With snow now forecast HDC comes into the picture again. Is this lurch normal or should I drop right down to 1st before engaging HDC??

Are you sure it actually lurches? Or is it that butt clenching split second when you believe nothing is going to stop you and fear sets in?
If it lurches, it's broken, get it mended Thumbs Up

It has worked a treat on the shot ice this last two mornings, both in 2nd and 1st gear.

Poser for you all.
While going to work this morning i was stuck in the usual slow moving traffic jam
I had a "bulb" moment and thought, if I'm in first, then I can put HDC on, and adjust the creep speed with cruise buttons, and just steer, like being in auto.
I put it into HDC, took my feet off the pedals, started pressing the + button, and........nothing.
Tried again remembering it does .3mph increments, and after pressing several times, when it should have been doing about 15mph (not really but you know what I mean).
Does it only work on an incline, or do i have problem that needs investigating?
I know the system has some kind of inclinometer built in, so is that the reason why?
