Bought some from Halfrauds to cure a juddering wing mirror and cured the problem.

I also used it to clean the black plastic bits around the car including door handles,wing mirror cowling, side bumper strip and the bits below the doors. Must say it has done a far superior job than the bespoke Autoglym stuff. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

WD40, developed before life got electro-mechanically complicated, silicon is good ( Maplins stores a good source) but even it can "gum up" delicate things like stepper motors, my favourite is.......

ACF-50 is brilliant as a lubricant and corrosion inhibiter/killer. Just don't get it on rubber, aparently it rots it. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Dont use it!

It will age your plastic and you will find yourself having to use it more and more. I have also seen it used it tyre products which is dangerous and damages the sidewall.

If you use something like autoglym bumper care or vinyl and rubber care the first time is awful but each progressive time it gets better and you use less each time.

Don't use which one, the Silicon Spray or the ACF-50?
I use the silicon on the front and rear distance sensors, seems to have stopped them malfunctioning when in heavy rain (thanks to this forum for the original suggestion), but also on juddering mirrors. Don't wish to damage the latter though...

He means the ACF-50, it penetrates and is unfriendly towards rubber. Silicon coats the surface and reduces friction on moving parts.

apparently early formulas had an effect on Latex which is natural rubber, but as all the "rubber" on modern vehicles is compounded with synthetics you can use it without issues , I've blathered bikes with it in winter for years and no detrimental effect on the rubber or plastics , obviously you use the stuff for what it is intended a maintenance and anti corrosion spray,not a replacement for bodycare

Those old compounds are still available with cheaper products and can age plastics so still be careful which product you choose.

As lubricants for your wing mirror they are excellent but a teflon lubricant applied through a fine tube applied to the nozzle is better.
