Shadow Chrome Wheel Repair - Paint code?

Hi all,

I have an unsightly kerb mark on my 19 inch shadow chrome wheels which need repairing. Can anyone assist me with the paint code for that particular colour of wheel? The usual shades don't seem to match at all.

Thanks in advance

JB

i have been through the exact same thing, sorry to say shadow chrome is near impossible to get an exact match

the reason is they paint the wheel black and then spray on a silver lacquer, and depending on the sprayer, he will put down too little (a darker finish) or too much (a more silver finish)

I was quoted £100 for one whole wheel to be redone, but this might be a slightly different shade, or the whole set been done at £380 iirc and the chance are the set will be uniform in colour

you might be better searching for a 2nd wheel to replace it as OEM are robot painted and they will near enough be exact in colour match Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Cheers for that - thats a shame as I can't justify having the whole wheel, or all four done for the sake of a few inches of kerb damage. Might have to leave as is unless I can find someone who has experience of such repairs!

Thanks for the info though, much appreciated. Thumbs Up

A lot of wheel refurbishers don't seem to do the specialist finishes. I remember when I had my Mondeo ST220. It had the lovely diamond cut finish multi-spoke wheels. Trouble is they corroded to f Censored k. One got so bad, I had to replace the wheel, as I was told it's such a specialist market, firms aren't interested in doing the honours. May be the same for the shadow chromes and is part of the reason I 've not upgraded to them. I have to say they are by far the best looking FL2 wheels though - good luck Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Till you decide hat your doing cover the area in clear lacquer or nail varnish to prevent anything getting below the surrounding paint and bubbling it

It's what I did and it just looks like the day a did it Sad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Cheers all, some good advice there. Have got a repair specialist making some enquiries on how to repair it without wrecking it. Will keep you posted!
