I ordered a new freelander on 14th April for end of May delivery.Contacted dealer who said it would now be June.
Contacted dealer who said it would now be August or September. Got all the excuses under the sun including everything is going to India for the new factory there , the tsunami in Japan !
Wrote to the MD at land rover but that was a waste of time as he got a girl from the typing pool to reply.
Anyone else having the same problem.

Whoever promised such an early delivery was out of touch. Expect at least 12 weeks for delivery.

The Tsunami has badly affected a lot of production from cars to photocopiers.

Did you really expect a reply direct from the MD of Land Rover? Bear in mind that your contract is with the dealer, not Land Rover.

Check the T's & C's of your purchase order to see if cancellation is a viable option without incurring a penalty and then give them a reasonable ultimatum to supply the car by a certain date, or the order will be canceled.

There'll be better dealers who may have something near to what you want available from stock.

Watch this space I'm waiting for one, order'd in June and told it will be a September car probably the middle of the month, but if not I think it's worth the wait if it's later.

Spec? Colour? Seems a strange tale and lack of communication somewhere?
I ordered mine the same week as you, I was told at the time of order which colours were affected and which colours would likely be available. It was ordered for August as I did not want it earlier, the build date and delivery date slipped by one week, I could have had a choice of others immediately, not the same spec, but a good choice of colours and specs, non the less.

As stated by Tigger, you have no contract with Land Rover, they simply cannot get involved, it's a bit like ringing CG and stating the chicken you bought at Tesco was a bit bland

Ordered a new GS (black with spare and winter pack) on July 15th and promised delivery Oct 20th. Build date is scheduled for Oct 5th. Rang dealer a month after ordering to check everything still on schedule. Good news so far.
I'll phone again around Sept 15th. Definitely worth keeping in touch with dealer.

I ordered a Black GS with front parking, dab, spare wheel & privacy glass on the 18th June and was quoted 30th September. Moved Forward to 19th September and then the 12th September and that's the last I've heard.

E-mailed the dealership the other-day to get an update so I can sort out the insurance etc and haven't had a reply. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual MY11 - 61REG Stratstone Mayfair

Tigger I guess you are right, they are a profit making company after all.

I've heard that LR are currently producing 3 Evoques for every Freelander.

Just heard today they have made mine in the last few days, should be at the dealers early next week, getting closer yee ha
