More likely to be Slave cylinder and not easy to check as it's in the gearbox. So gearbox out job

I would do the lot while box out. When slave cylinder went on my SE I had an Indy change slave, dmf and clutch cost £700 all in.

Sounds like the slave cylinder could be going. You will know for sure when you get in to find pedal on floor

Yes it's been classed as a D cat by insurance, trying to figure out how much to put back on road if I buy off insurance

Sorted - selector cable has a grommet on it that locates onto front of gear stick bracketry. This had popped out to the rhs. Relocated it and hey presto!

Update - disconnected and reconnected solenoid No change! Checked selector moves forward for 2nd 4th etc and back for 1st 3rd etc appeared to be not going far enough forward so sprayed some lubricant ...
