You do this from outside the vehicle, should have stated that, it is tight but use a torch to shine down in to the door and you should see the locking mechanism

I take it they sent that off on your behalf when you purchased? Do you have the V5C/2 section?

It can take up to 6 weeks to get a new V5 from the DVLA
