I readily admit I found the first time I replaced FL2 oil filter............... = a real battle.
Then I looked it up on here.....

It sounds very much like the starter motor solenoid contacts are giving up.

As cqr says Repairkituk do a beefed up set of contacts.

I was wondering if the recall was to fit a an improved or up-graded part but from what you say,Alex the problem is one of O ring leakage and the spill rail and O rings are just replaced.

Agree, also had this on freelander 1
sudden power down and looking in rear view mirror road behind filled with with black smoke.
Hiss traced to split less than 1/2 long.couldn't beleive it could ...

I see Lr supermarket ( and preumably some others) sell a differential repair kit for £90 -includes bearing, seals, haldex fluid and diff oil.

Anyone done this?
Is it reasonably straight forward-?
