I would say youve got a duff/faulty one there, Ive never had one go and have had a FL2 since 2009, mine will lift the bonnet on their own once lifted by about a foot or so.

Ive watched them in the Land Rover dealers garage doing the fuel filter, they use one of those pump things, but the mechanic said the Freelander 2 can sometimes be a job to get going again afterwards ...
