Update,
Sent fob off to be refurbished (£40 all in).
To include. New case, battery, buttons & test of fob.

Had no issues with the horn since, buttons now seem fine too. May be a possible link. Pleased you managed to change them, I realise the front bumper has to come off to access them.

Considering the heat shield does not protect the tank. Have decided to leave it off. Was a piece of junk anyway Laughing Think silver/alu foil would have been a better choice Shocked Laughing

As previously stated. 15w-40 far to thick of an oil to use. 5w-30 Ford spec, a better choice.

I could always buy some big washers, re-fit the old one. Don't know whether I could get to the bolts without taking the exhaust off though?
Eaiser option, leave as is.
