| Just in case it's this: if the car is left for a month, the electronics go into deep sleep and the key fobs won't work, the car then has to be opened manually using the key blade. |

Same here shiggsy, mine was the alternator pulley, all probably age related now.
I'd say so, mine has only just gone through 60k. |
