I used 1,000 and 2,000 grit wet and dry sandpaper. Then plastic primer, paint, lacquer. Similar to how bob mentions, took me 3 days as i left it to dry well. I went for anthracite on mine.

Looks great. I did this to mine last year using halfords Anthracite grey. Very pleased with mine, so sure you will be happy with yours.

Had the pipe at front of engine go a few days ago. Replacement arrived today and all fitted. Pain to get to the top end but other than that a fairly quick and cheap job.
