Upon inspection of the old membrane, I noticed a very small tear on the outermost edge. Proba ...

UPDATE

So after going through all the steps suggested by the members of this forum, the vehicle has reliably cranks 100% of the time. I've put on around 12,000kms since then. However, the crank tim ...

I thought the positive battery cable ran from the battery directly to the starter: https://www.jaguarparts.com/oem-parts/land-rover-positive-cable-lr017335

But I've seen mention that the alternato ...

Those are massive amperages! Shocked
My starter motor is supposedly 1.7kw, so I'd imagine it should only draw around 150amps.

I wonder what gauge cable your neighbors Audi is using that can han ...

It could be. I used one of the starter motor mounting bolts. Mine was a manual gearbox so might not have had the bolt that Jules with his auto box had available.

Yes that's what I've done as well. ...

Have you checked to see if it's getting the correct amperage. You can get 12 volts on a single strand of wire but it won't carry the required amps. I can't remember what it should be but that is why I ...
