Is that not a rechargeable battery in the key fob charged when inserted into the car?

possibly a faulty battery?
 Does FL 2 have variable speed steering? it's very sensitive!

Can you not just crank the engine over without it starting by not pushing down the clutch pedal?

No expert but i would not expect the fluid to get hot otherwise surly the viscosity of the fluid would change.
