I have an iMac that has been backing up to a seagate drive via the usb port for 5 years now..
use whatever drive you wish.. no problem !

I usually spray Some circuit cleaner to clean all the mechanisms, then 10 mins later i spray grease ( eg cycle chain grease) .
It seems to do the trick. |

just an update in case someone has this problem..
LR diagnosed it as a failed stepper motor. this was replaced, and all seems ok now.
i hope it solved the problem ! € 250 |
