United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red
Great Excitement on the Baby (Evoque) site.....

Launch day and events at all dealers. Full Fat Tim was helping out the sales team at LPR this evening and has posted photos of his new car, under preparation. Looks very smart even if it is white..... I think he has the top of the range with every extra. Interesting to see how he adapts after his Full Fat Rangies...... JT
PS I had an invite to the LPR day at West Wickham this Sun but have another event pre booked, hope to see the E in the flesh soon...... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Not to a evoque too small, still planning on keeping this one for another year, then to what I don't know, I was saying to the wife I miss my sportier cars the other day, but then I love the 4x4 too Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We've also an MX5. Been trouble free, great little car. Never had so much fun without driving like a loon. Cheap to run too.
But like you, i also love 4x4, i need one in the winter. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Well said. Right now 2WD owners have forgotten about last winter but we are cruising towards the power of winter once more and cometh the hour cometh the Freelander 2. Oh how I laughed as I sailed past Mr Cool in his tailgating edition BMW 3 series totally stuck!

I love taking to the snow covered side streets. Bring on the snow again! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

If i walked in the dealer this morning and he said here are the keys to your FREE evouke Mr Taylor i would actually ask if i could swap it for an SD4 Freelander. The Evouke looks cool and stuff, but its so small inside, being 6ft 3 and that its not the car for me! Lets hope they put the funky seats and dash in the next freelander hey!

Evoque is surprisingly roomy inside. I'm 6ft 2 and had no problems driving and was comfortable in the back with an over 6ft driver.

i suppose i'll have to have a look at one at somepoint, but after having 22 visits to the dealer with the FL2.1 when it first was launched, I think i might wait a little bit for the gremlins to be sorted to be sorted, if it fits my requirements in the flesh Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

the evoques do look very nice..... had my FL2 in this morning for a software update and while i was there, the "OFF ROAD" chap took me round the dealerships ramps while he was waiting for the first TEST-DRIVING customers who were out in the other Evoques. it was the top of the range model and i kept saying, that should have been in my FL2 HSE. It is smaller and 100kg lighter than the FL2 but the headroom appears to have been retained in the rear by having a full panoramic glass roof (although i would have to take a tape measure to be sure)

Was well impressed with the SAT NAV screen doubling up as a TV which can only be seen by the passenger unless under a certain speed. If you move your head over towards the driver's position, it appears as the SAT NAV screen. Did look odd when he was setting SAT NAV options as he appeared to be pressing on a newsreader's face!!!!! They are a bit pricey though. The sound proofing is much improved. The AUTO version SPORT mode has got paddles on the steering column for changing gear. MPG sounds impressive too (I think he said it was in the high 50s!!!)

I suppose the intention is for me to look at the brochure and the more I look, the more I'll think my FL2 is getting dated.

If they stick all the same bells and whistles in the next generation of FL2s and keep the price for the HSE under 35K, then I might be tempted in 18 months

I am hoping for the flappy paddle gear box in the freelander! Defo buy a new one then!

yeah... it'll be just like playing in the arcades back in the 70s.... I wonder if they'll put a COIN SLOT in too (must take the old larger 10p piece though)

Of course you are interested.

Some people on this site, with wool over their eyes are stating that the Evoque wont impact the sales of the FreeL2.

Of course it will.

And how.

It will also impact the 2nd hand values.

People want to look so today and not yesterday.

If i could, i would. Thumbs Up

Oh dear. Seems like a FL2/Evoque argument has began.
Come on lads, both cars are made in the UK giving our folks jobs, not to mention some UK based suppliers even if L/R are not a UK company anymore.

Let's be thankful that Halewoods' order book is full and good luck to all JLR products. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
