If you use a non landrover p/filter element they tend to buckle rather than bend,making them hard ti isert! easy if you use original l/rover part FREELANDER 2 2010 HSE LARGO GREY ALMOND LEATHER

I guess you have just anwsered the question. Use a genuine part as I found it fairly easy

I think the job varies in difficluty between LHD & RHD.

I watched the video as I wanted to find the filter firstly.

My car is an 09 RHD,so filter is in passenger footwell near centre tunnel.

In my opinion,its pointless removing the cubby box as you still cant get at the filter on a 09 RHD.

Its a fiddly job even using genuie parts,certainly on my model.I can only think LR fitted these during manufacture when it was unobstructed.

I had to bend /push wiggle my filter till it finally went in. I then moved it back and forth about 10cm several times to try to "reshape" it.

And I broke 2 of the pollen filter cover clips-very flimsy. The main issue leading to damage of one clip was my cover clip was attached to the wiring loom that also fouls the entrance for the filter,the second simply broke off on replacement.

I also broke the slow release bar retaining clip on the cubby box (have fixed by drilling a small hole and putting in a split pin). As I said dont remove the cubby on a 2009 RHD TD4s E-there was a big plastic tube still obstucting the access after mine came of gaining me nothing & just causing damage.

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Baltic Blue

I serviced our 2008 Freelander last Sunday but completely failed to locate the pollen/cabin filter. Somehow, watching the video gave me the wrong idea of where to look. Anyway, having thought about it for 24 hours I had another go last night and found it much closer to the front bulkhead than I'd realised. Having located it, I found changing it to be a bit fiddly but basically OK and in that respect the video was really useful for showing how the cover unclipped and the filter slid out. As ever with car jobs, it should be much easier next time now I know what I'm doing!

Genuine Filters are more rigid,and don't buckle when you

Probably as suggested before, an original filter would be designed for such a job. So best go original as it didn't take me long to install at all. Just move the wires out the way the best you can.

My 2009 FL2 is Left Hand Drive as in the video and with a litle attention to the slow release bar (don't pull it, just gently press right its knob out of the cubby box) it work easy.

The cubby box is absolutely important to take it out. It makes the work really easy.
I used an aftermarket filter MAN CUK 2733 (with activated charcoal) amd it didn't bend at all, costs about 15 USD.

Good luck, this one is easy!

Took me about half an hour to put the filter door on. Just make sure that you dont try to put the filter door on back to front - it looks like it should fit that way round. Dont ask me how I know that. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
