I’m thinking of fitting a worklight to the back of my FL2 for when I'm hitching the caravan up in the darker winter months.
It’s a simple circuit, 12V fused feed from the battery, through a relay to the light at the rear (assume 21W Bulb).
Anyone know if I pick up a 12V feed from the sidelight circuit for the relay solenoid, will this cause any problems with the Can Bus? I did this on my old FL1 but the Can Bus was much simpler on that model.
I know a wiring diagram has been posted previously but this is for lhd so I thought I had better ask the question.
Also thinking of fitting a reverse camera but may need to take a direct 12V feed from the battery rather than using the reverse light feed.

Just a thought, you could fit a accessory socket on the nearside boot panel, the later models have them fitted there, a few members have already done this and taken a feed fron the fuse box by the spare wheel, you could then run a number of accessories from this point. Just a thought

Power it of the leisure battery in the caravan, assuming its not flat and you feel like ever going in the van again after 'holidaying ' in it for a miserable weekend.

The sidelamp feed is powered by FET. The coil (solenoid) within a relay is only about 80/100ma so you should be fine. Are you going to fit a switch to turn you lamp on? Otherwise it will stay on with sidelamps. If so, use the coil side of the relay as you'd only be switching low current.
And don't forget to fit fuses and match your cable sizes for fuse blow/volt drop.
Give me the length of cable and bulb wattage if you need help. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I fitted a really bright led strip light set in my gas locker, when I open up the locker and switch on, ( powered of the van 110 amp battery ) it lights up the Freelander like a football ground light !
I put one in my side lockers and a tiny one in the Loo water tank holder and a tiny led one in the electric hook up point ! Oh its great in the dark. Next job is to fit LED's over each of the leg winder heads so i know where to stick the electric drill

The OP has a 2007 model, so he won't have a power socket fitted in the boot

Would there be any accessory socket wiring installed in the boot of the 2007 model? May be easier to use a hand held 12V light if I install a socket.

At least if you fit it yourself it might work ,mine was not connected (new sd4)

when the technician at the dealer asked how I knew it was not working,
I whipped out my multi-meter and showed him...!!!
(I have City and Guilds in Advanced electronics..among other,s) Wales
