Colours..

Just registered after lurking for a few months. Looking forward to actively participating..

So, first question: Am about to order a new Freelander next week - have my spec all sorted out but the good lady wife and I have come to an impasse over the interior colour.

We will go for Orkney gray, with the following argument over interior:

I say: I hate black interiors. Too opressive. I prefer the light and airy feel of the almond seats.

She says: Light colour interiors are for old men and don't go well with a gray color car. Ebony black is the smart way to go.

Would be grateful for any views here, and what would be really helpful are any photos you might have that show the contrast between interior and exterior colours??

Many thanks for your views!

Mark

Welcome to the site! Very Happy

This is a difficult one because grey cars really aren't my thing I'm afraid. However, I really like the almond interior, though it wouldn't go with the grey exterior.

Ebony black looks good, but the carpets will show all the dirt and mud and it'll be making hot inside when you park it on a summer's day. If I had to go for grey, I'd choose the grey leather interior for sure.

I picked the car she picked the colour and interior.

I just told her that I don't like black, white, grey, blue or green (at that time red wasn't an option) and I don't like black interiors. so she picked Ipanema sand with almond pleather. Easy!

Marklad, I was in a similar dilemma

Swinwing's response is the most diplomatic one and I am sure he will have many years of happy married life LaughingI did it the other way she chose the car i chose the colour. She took the keys and left the fuel card for me Sad

I liked black exterior with almond interior. However with my other car (tanzanite blue with pebble beige interior) keeping the exterior clean was really difficult. So this time i went for Fuji white. Now choosing the color for interior became an issue.I do like ebony interior with white body however the issues are it retains a lot of heat and as you mentioned the cabin looks somewhat 'gloomy'.In addition there is no matching trim available for ebony interior apart from ebony as far as I know.So I went finally for almond with piano trim wondering together with the exterior, how it would look at the end of the day. When the car arrived I found that they put a different black trim instead of the piano, anyway the combination was very nice. With three kids, I haven't found it an issue
to keep it clean at all
I haven't come across the colour you are mentioning. What I can say is ebony is out for me for the issues mentioned above.(I assume retaining heat might be a benefit for you on that side)Perhaps considering the interior in isolation will help to take a decision. When you are in the cockpit you don't see the outside anyway Thumbs Up

Thanks for the tips. Looks like we might compromise now and go for sand / almond. Discussed it for a while this morning and then realised how lucky we are to have such problems!

Whatever colour you choose, then enjoy the drive. Thumbs Up I can't believe how much I am enjoying mine and every drive is an 'event' and a very special feeling. So quiet and smooth, so much so that the management nodded off yesterday on the M25 and so I was able to enjoy the ride in peace and quiet - that is until her mobile woke her up and normal ear bashing was resumed!!

Finland 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

I had a hard time choosing between ipanema sand and Stornoway grey with almond interior. In the end I chose Stornoway which then got changed to Orkney grey with almond interior and I couldn't be happier with the colour combination....

I'll post some pics with Orkney grey + almond interior.....

Hey, wait a minute! Light interiors are for "old men", yet a grey exterior isn't?! Rolling Eyes
