The machine falters

While driving at night on a mountain road the engine suddenly lost the force until it stopped and the engine check alert came on. From previous experience, a year before, I removed the electronic key and inserted it again and I started the engine by pressing the accelerator hard then, the alert came to off and I continued my journey.
Today, after ~500 Km, it happened to me the same.
The engine started but the alert remained on.
Did you have a similar experience and what was the diagnosis?

It's protesting against the Greek austerity cuts? Never happened to me I'm afraid. (Yet). Hope you can get to the bottom of it.

The decrease in our acceptance to meet the obligations
our Country is assured for many generations to come. Embarassed
But we are concerned the issues of reliability of the car,
like changing the fuel pump just to 74400 KM Banging Head
