Roof Load For Roof Tent

My LR2 has the factory roof rails - US version with sunroof - I want to add a platform to the rails to allow me to get up on the car and 1- do photography and 2 - have roof tent capacity. What is the weight capacity of the LR2 roof?

Probably a good question to be answered by Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear Team.

Ask nicely and he might try and land a helicopter on it

or in this case probably build a nice brick upper storey with pitch roof Rolling with laughter

Anyway a good question - never heard of a roof tent before Thumbs Up 2002 Honda VFR800

75 kg is for a moving vehicle - has anyone put a tend on top of their LR2?

I'd hardly think you would put 75kg on a roof without rails so I would say roof rails that are attached to the roof.

My thinking is that it states "Max Roof Load" for a FL2 - but the rails/bars are an extra.

Therefore I wondered whether "Max Roof Load" was on the actual roof itself before it would dip/buckle. 2002 Honda VFR800

its the max weight for the bars, in total

so my guess is

75KG max load, less the roof rails & crossbars weight (11kg?) leaving 64Kg of extra crap you don't need to take away Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

worth reading this thread on Disco3 about roof rails and a captive nut breaking, might be something to ponder on

From the link above -

Dynamic Load is 75kg or something. This is the load when moving......

Static Load can be therefore more. I.e. a rack + two man tent + two actual men...... more like 300kg

No, 75kg is the maximum, read all the thread and Landrovers reply to a member states 75kg. The mention of dynamic/static is not mentioned anywhere in the Owners Manual and that post is pure speculation.
