How long is a piece of string ?

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get a new car (any car) from ordering to collection ?.

I orderd a new Seat Leon FR diesel Auto for my wife at the end of January (2011) and still no sign of it !(June 14 2011).

We've had new cars before but never had one made to order.

Also the service from the garage (Arnold Clark Newcastle) has been crap but that's a hole new post.. Big Cry

It's getting desperate now as she is using my Freelander , and each time I get it back I need to bite my lip and sob a little tear inside (her words "it's only a car ").... SD4 Sports LE Black ...

I can't help with your first question but do try to confine her to the kitchen, you are allowing her too much freedom. Laughing

is it the 2.0 litre diesel (170bhp I think) if so I know there is a general shoertage of these units across the whole VAG group. I was looking at the waiting times on some new cars provided through my work lease company and all VAG's with this engine were on a minimum 20week lead time. Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

ditto the above, was quoted 22 weeks on a Skoda, part of the issue, I was told, is that the car leasing companies are buying huge stocks of VAG group cars.
This would appear to be correct as my lease is up in 6 weeks and I am being bombarded with e-mails for offers on Seat, Skoda, VW and Audi cars.

Glad I ordered a Freely early as these now appear to be gaining popularity and the lead times creeping up?

hope its better than my Audi experience, ordered a TT in June 07 expected delivery Dec 07. I sent my private plate retention certificate to them early Dec . only to get a call saying who are you which car did you order?.

The idiots had 'lost' my order. the only proof of it was the £1000 in their receipt book, I cancelled the whole thing, got £500 worth of brakes fitted to my A3 trade as compensation as I had to keep it. then went out and ordered a freelander At work

It a piece of luck, Mrs G wasnt pregnant at time of ordering the TT, Imagine squeezing all the baby stuff into a TT Confused

I only ordered a TT so as to have enough poke to overtake caravans without dying, now in the freelander I have to get used to following the big fat white monsters, perhaps I need an SD4 and to bill the caravan club for the premium At work

You'll also find that manufacturers from all sectors, not just car manufacturers, don't want stock lying around unsold. It means that they have to hold less raw material and only order it as and when required, saves alot of money in the long term. It's happening over all industries in the "hard" times. ______________________
