United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Low px Values

We have been looking to px our FL2 against a nearly new Ford S Max Titanium for a couple of weeks now. Having visited quite a few local(ish) Ford dealers, I have to say how shocked I am by the low px values that have been quoted to us.

Our car is a standard manual 2009 59 Reg, GS TD4_e in Stornaway Grey with 24,000 miles on the clock. It’s in excellent condition and has a full Land Rover service history.

I checked the px values via the Glass’s guide (via the Vauxhall website) and they are coming out as follows:-

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition: £18400
Average condition: £17500
Below average condition: £16200

The px values we have been given have been between £14,700 Shocked and £15,500!

Has anyone else received low px values? Is it just Ford dealers?

Thanks.

Andy Freelander 2, GS, TD4_e in Stornaway Grey.

Youre best trying to sell it private to be honest. Ford will outsource a Land Rover dealer who is prepared to buy the vehicle from them hence the low valuation. If you was for example buying again from Land rover you would find the price a lot better.

Sounds about what someone on here was offered by a LR dealer for an 08 GS about a year ago. If you can tough it out until the winter, you'd get a better price.

Bare one thing in mind, and this is coming from knowledge from the trade.

You go into the Ford dealer, and they know they will have to move the car on. So they get the car under written by an LR dealership.

Now you say you got offered £14700 in PX. It is likely they had the car under written at £16k for example. So if you accept the £14700 for it, they then sell it on and make even more money by moving it on to the LR dealership for £16k.

The best thing to do, is go directly to an LR dealership and ask what they will give you for it. They will offer trade just like they did to the Ford dealer. So in this instance, YOU get offered the higher price.

You can then go back to the Ford dealer without a PX and screw the bastard down on price.

FL2 residuals are sky high at the moment. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Have a look at motorpoint.co.uk they usually have low mileage Ford bargains, as stated wait until the first flurry and people will be queuing for Freelanders.
They ain't called stealers for nothing, trying it on for sure.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black

I would have expected £19k for a 2 year old Freelander 2 GS at a depreciation of £3k a year.

Best bet would be to sell directly to a LandRover Dealer or get one to sell it for you on sale or return on your behalf. Other car dealers are of course going to come in low as they then have to do all the work to shift your car in which case you'd need to get a good discount on your new vehicle to make up for their low part exchange price. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual MY11 - 61REG Stratstone Mayfair

I also chipped in my XS for less than we expected.

Am in the market for an XS or higher.

Yours is a GS with the new engine?

I dont think snow will make a difference.

The difference is the new EVOQUE. That the reason no one will be buying a used freelander.

Apparently impact on residuals is very high because of the new baby range rover.

It has a lower tax bracket and nice looks, so people opting to buy the landy for the school run or the motorway commute will now be looking elsewhere.

I am in the market for an XS or higher with low miles.

I've had a good look at the new Evoque, (i might get slated here) but I don't actually like it!
IMHO it serves a different market than the freelander (which I feel is much more practical) but I understand where you're coming from... 57 HSE AUTO with H.I.D's - Grey with Black leather. (H.S.E. Heightadjustable Seats Extra Sad )

Yes that’s me on the website shamelessly plugged below. Don’t fly much nowadays as it’s extortionately expensive, but my Youtube Videos are popular as they are fairly unique, having in cockpit sound as well as reasonable views, so I get a lot of feedback from trainee pilots... What do you think of the UKHelicopterPilot web site? Are you interested in Aviation? 57 HSE AUTO with H.I.D's - Grey with Black leather. (H.S.E. Heightadjustable Seats Extra Sad )
