Jag Clutch

A chap I work with has just replaced the Clutch/Flywheel on a 58 plate Jaguar 2.2d at a local garage. He didn't get any change from £1200 ouch!

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Nazca Sand

From memory mine was approx £850 fitted. I ended up having to source/supply the dual mass fly wheel as the garage couldn't get til a week later and I needed the car asap, but this did knock a few hundred off the bill as they couldn't mark it up! Maybe buy the slave/clutch/dmf and pay to get it fitted, almost certainly a lot cheaper.

It always amazes me just how much firms want to mark up their goods for resale. I was told by a mate of mine in a bmw workshop just how much money I could save by buying the oil from halfords or similar outlet to service the bmw.
they buy in bulk but charge almost twice the price for a litre of oil than if you bought it else where.
Provided you supply the correct oil, filter etc then they will use it saving you a small fortune.
I would imagine this could be said for any part you want fitting.

Gloucester road gearboxes in Bristol charge £370 for clutch, dmf, slave etc (I realise it can be bought cheaper) and £240 to fit, all plus VAT.

They do good work too........when another garage done the same job it was more expensive by far and I had to return twice to get various bits sorted, no problem this time and they offer a quick turnaround too.

2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Galway Green

Two weeks ago, my eldest Son had his clutch go on his Freelander 1 Td4,while on an adventure day in the North Yorkshire Moors, it got recovered to a Land rover Specialist in Kirkbymoorside, and on inspection, aswell as the clutch needing replacing, it also needed, single mass flywheel, (to replace the dual mass unit which had lunched itself on the clutch),clutch, pressure plate, thrust bearing, slave cylinder, etc., all together they relieved him of £849. £235 for labour.
