Offroad Wheels/Tyres - Sensitive Mr Dunroof don't read this

Ok so there are only a handful of folks here who take their Freelander2 off the tar and into the fields.

As some of you know I have ordered an E Censored e (hence the Dunroof reference) which runs on Freelander2 hubs so none of my 18 RRS/FFRR/Defender wheels will fit it. So as the E Censored e has greater offroad ability than the Freelander2 (more ground clearance and better approach/departure and break-over angles) I was wondering what members here use for tyres when they want to pay dirty with their Freelander2.
The standard wheel/tyres on mine will be 20" 245/45, but also available OEM are 19" 245/45, 235/55 19's and 235/60 18's so there is a large choice of wheel/ tyre combos available but what would be a decent make/size of All Terrain - what I want to do is reduce from having Winter and Mud tyres and have something that is a good compromise between the two.

Thanks, and Dunroof it's safe to read on from here................... no more Evoques are mentioned Rolling with laughter How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Tim,
Can't help with the tyres but your off roading figures in favour of the Evoque confuse me:

Evoque - Front axle clearance 215mm / FL2 - 210mm
Evoque - Rear axle clearance 240mm / FL2 - 265mm
Evoque - Approach angle 25'/19' / FL2 - 31' ('=degrees)
Evoque - Ramp angle 22' / FL2 - 23'
Evoque - Departure angle 33'/30' / FL2 - 34'

Taken off LR site for MY11, the Freelanders are better in all but Front Axle Clearance Smile and that's debatable on how big a breakfast you had that day Laughing

ummmmm I was using info obtained from the motoring press and LR literature that I have been sent and elsewhere, not from the LR website and from the Freelander2 brochures I have here.. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

CG, it wasn't the dealership trying to get a sale, the offroad ability isn't of great consequence as I have a Defender to go into those places if I want to. Anyway I use the most reputable and highly thought of dealers in the UK - as voted by members of Freeander2.com........ How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Turkey 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Stornoway Grey

I used to go offroad with the stock 19" on the last fl2. It was somewhat ok beside the deep mud. It had the continental contact UHP's on it.

The one I have now has 17" with wranglers, and I have a better feeling now about offroading. 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

Swap the wheels for 17"
Fit a set of Goodyear 235/65R17 MT tyres.
If you are going to go to the trouble of kitting out for a run off-road don't bother to do half a job by fitting the standard Goodyear all-terrain tyres (which when new are VERY good), fit the tyres used by the G4 challenge vehicles.

The limits then become ground clearence, nerve, and skill.
Ground clearance can be helped by underbody protection and driving quickly, nerve can be helped by deep pockets, skill --- sorry not got much, certainly none to spare Very Happy

The MT are excellent off-road, noisey on tarmac, and will increase fuel consumption. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
