It will seal it BUT you will then have problems getting the thing off again as it will stick the lens to the boot lid - better to use rubber draught proof tape - I used E profile stuff from Aldi (the kind you get for house windows and doors etc) it is flexible and creates a good seal No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS "Fiat Lux" a philosophy not a car |

Morning all. We have owned our FL2 for just over a month and very heavy rain these past few days has caused significantly leakage onto the load bay cover and down into the boot. I'm hoping this is the cause!

Replaced the seal around the rear breaklight, and after a whole day of heavy rain the boot was dry.

Having released the light from the tailgate you could fit the new seal over the light. The most difficult thing would be cleaning all of the old seal and its adhesive from the back of the light while it is hanging from the car.

I bought an e-bay one ages ago, but never got round to fitting it. Based on this , I might just keep smearing the existing one with silicone grease. It works for quite a while. Been doing this for ~ 2 -3 years |

I made my own using 'E' profile window sealant from Lidl - works a treat

Thought about that, but wondered if it would be too thick, when trying to click the light back into place? |
