Actually i just read the bullin - some black silicone sealant should do the trick?

It will seal it BUT you will then have problems getting the thing off again as it will stick the lens to the boot lid - better to use rubber draught proof tape - I used E profile stuff from Aldi (the kind you get for house windows and doors etc) it is flexible and creates a good seal No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Water from rear brake light

Common problem they used the wrong seal / glue, some past recalls take back to dealer.

Morning all. We have owned our FL2 for just over a month and very heavy rain these past few days has caused significantly leakage onto the load bay cover and down into the boot. I'm hoping this is the cause!

Confused

Replaced the seal around the rear breaklight, and after a whole day of heavy rain the boot was dry.

So hopefully it is fixed.

Wish us luck!!

Hello

Did you unplug everything that goes to the light when replacing the seal or could you just put the seal on by keeping everything plugged in ?

Having released the light from the tailgate you could fit the new seal over the light. The most difficult thing would be cleaning all of the old seal and its adhesive from the back of the light while it is hanging from the car.

Why would you not just take it off? The bulb holder simply twist-locks in place - a quarter turn and it pops out and rhe washer jet again only clicks into place. No connections to disconnect as such.

Just unclick both and leave them dangling as you will probably want to try to clean the green algae from the edges of the light as well while it is off the car.

I've just fitted one of the eBay seals. Cleaned everything down, got rid of green algi
Get up today, boot matt with a huge puddle
Two questions
Can it leak elsewhere?
Is there any better method? Two seals on top of each other? Or any tube semi setting sealent?
At least it's easy to take off

I bought an e-bay one ages ago, but never got round to fitting it. Based on this , I might just keep smearing the existing one with silicone grease. It works for quite a while. Been doing this for ~ 2 -3 years

I made my own using 'E' profile window sealant from Lidl - works a treat

Thought about that, but wondered if it would be too thick, when trying to click the light back into place?

Can't harm to try that, I even put petroleum jelly on it all
I assume joint is at the bottom. I'm amazed how little pressure the system places on the seal
