Change Disc and Pads?

My brake discs are looking a little worn (there is a noticeable lip on the outer edge) so I'm guessing I'll need to change them. Have no idea when (if) they were every changed.

My question is should the pads be changed aswell or only if very worn? 2002 Honda VFR800

If you change discs you must change the pads, BUT check minimum disc thickness before you change them , somewhere you will get min dimension. It is sometimes on the edge of the disc. A lip does not neccessarily mean they are at the end of life.

I would do them both together, discs do have a minimum thickness however I don't know what it is on a freelander 2, should be stamped around the edge. 2009 FL2 GS

To change the brake pads front and rear should only take just over an hour, if you have a ramp about 45 minutes,
Just changed mine at 39000 miles the disc's where fine so they can last until next time . Thumbs Up

If your discs are two thirds worn then i would change both pads and discs or when your discs reach the wear limits you will need to replace discs and pads even if they are only part worn Thumbs Up
