Seat Belt mod

Having learnt about the seat belt mod regarding it's exit from the B-pillar, from knowledgeable members on this site I duly Informed my Local Dealer, Marshalls of Melton Mowbray about said Tech Bulletin. They held their hands up and said "Oh yes your right, we didn't know about that one" and credit to them my vehicle was booked in for the mod and additionally they also replaced both front seat belts as they thought they were starting to fray. Excellent, job done 1st week of December, just gone!

Well today I noticed that my new Drivers seat belt has started to fray like a wool Jumper! I happened to be passing same dealers today and so popped in...and...they won't take responsibility. According to them because the Job was a technical Bulletin and not a recall, any responsibility for the job expires with your vehicle warranty. Of course my warranty ran out a couple of weeks or so later on the 21st Dec. !

The Seat belt or belts they have fitted are not fit for purpose! Showing severe signs of wear after approximately 8 weeks !! Do I have ago at Land Rover Customer Relations?

Do all parts replaced by Landrover come with a 12 month warranty??? The fact that you didn't have to pay surely is beside the point?
Best of luck,

Not if they are replaced under warranty, I believe (from what I have read on here).

This sounds very iffy...

Obviously you cannot claim anything under the Sale of Goods Act because you have not paid for them. The dealer for whatever reason has clearly supplied you with an item in the course of their business and as such will fall under S.4 of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Unless there is something in their smallprint which rules any of this out of course but I do not see how it can. They always put at the bottom 'does not affect your statutory rights'

Here is a link to the legislation: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1982/29/section/4

and Section 11: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1982/29/section/11N

gd71 is correct.
Now 5 years retired as service manager with Ford, also covered warranty admin.
If a part is replaced under manufacturers warranty the warranty on that part expires with vehicle even if it has only been fitted for a week. The only option is a goodwill claim which if part is recently fitted should not be a problem for dealer. A couple of emails and a little paperwork is all it takes.

Prior to 3 year warranty on new cars Ford had a 3 year goodwill programme, we often suggested 95% Ford with a 5% customer contribution as this this legally entitled owner to 1 year parts and labour. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.
