"DE" programing tow bar

I know the ecu needs to be told when you fit a tow bar but does it likewise need to be told that the tow bar has been removed?
My newly aquired motor has had a tow bar fitted but removed before I got it, and I've found the reverse park sensors don't work could this be due to the tow bar being removed or another fault? It's got a warranty on it so they will need to sort it but interested in your veiws!

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

I'd image it to be fine without the electrics.

On the dashboard does the light come for the parking sensors or does it flash?

When i picked mine up the reversing sensors didn't work. I popped it in reverse and i got a beep for 20 seconds and the light flashed. After that nothing Sad Fixed under warranty.

Best of luck,

Can't see that the deprogramming would cure the fault, having it programmed only does one thing to the reverse sensors, it senses when the light socket has anything plugged in to it and turns the rear sensors off, as soon as you unplug it the reverse sensors will work as normal. As you get the long beep, as it done this since you have owned it Question I don't suppose you have just washed the car Question p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Recently took the electrics off my old FL2 before trading it in.
Took out wiring and all the fuses - Wiring was genuine LR.

Started to beep at strange times - might have been coincidence but it did start when I took them off.
Mentioned it to the sales man when i took it in for P/ex anyway. There's always a way forward!

I recently traded in a TD4 for a SD4 and the dealer swoppped the tow bar. When they removed the towbar (a couple of days before I picked up my new car) they also removed the LR towbar electrics, the parking sensors stoppped working - Long bleep when selecting reverse. I assumed the dealer forgot to reprogramme the ECU, as they did when they originally fitted the towbar to my TD4.
