Cyprus

Guys,

It can be done - it has been done on several FL2 cars in Cyprus by the LR Dealership in Nicosia (including mine). They use a customized welding part which attaches on the seat. I have taken pictures of said part, if you would like to see them.

Cyprus

Here are the pictures as promised. This was created by a welder in Cyprus who is working closely with Landrover Cyprus. In my honest opinion, these bases are actually sturdier than the ones produced by Landrover themselves Whistle

p.s. Mods, maybe this thread should be moved under Maintenance and Modifications? (edit:Topic moved, thanks!)

How the procedure was described to me, as I didn't see it happening (excuse some bad English, it's not my native language):

The silver pivot part is provided by Land Rover as a replacement/accessory. I don't know if it comes on every armrest replacement as a whole or individually - need to look it up.

The silver pivot is then welded on the black metal base, as you can see from the welding connections on the 2nd picture's left connector base.

The metal base itself is a square steel, with four screws on each corner.

The seat leather/fabric is lifted up from the seat underside until a metal arch about halfway (mentioned above by another forum member) is exposed.

That arch has four screw points on it, matching exactly the size of the black metal base you see in the picture - the metal base is then screwed on using the washers/bolts seen.

The seat leather/fabric is then stretched back in place. and a small hole is made on the leather/fabric to accommodate the silver pivot.

The original armrest is then attached to the pivot, completely concealing the hole made. The armrests behave the same way as installed on the HSE model - full movement up/down, micro-adjustment using the knob on the armrest itself.

Job done!

(Full size pictures in my gallery)

Price?

Price came with the cost of bases+armrests+fitting them, it was 400 euro for both seats if I remember correctly. Pretty sure there was a lot of profit margin both for LR Cyprus and the welder. That was in March 2010 when I first got my FL2.

I can ask for the price of the metal construction itself if interested, although by the looks of it, it's not that much of a job for an experienced welder.

The trouble is getting someone to do the job here. If there is a dealer in Cyprus who is willing, it would be interesting to either start a group buy or see what they would supply and ship to the UK for. Thanks.

Well I don't foresee a problem with shipping to the UK, as these bases have been installed for more than a year now, so they prove they work.

I will try to get some prices for the base itself on Monday, both for individual orders and group orders.

Just a reminder that someone needs to install it in the UK.

I'd be interested in a pair of bases - manufactured in Cyprus or UK - subject to confirmation of price.

Delivery to UK address or Swiss address.
Cheers

From the Man who is selling them on e-bay.
I just asked him ??

They fit over a boss and bolt on. The armrest then screws up and down to adjust. Can supply as many as needed in any colours.

The chap selling them was probably Right then ???

Seems like he is telling the truth. Ask him if he can get some pictures of said boss and bolt, if the design is similar to what I have shown above then it fits. And it will be much cheaper than sending out those from Cyprus - just a speculation.

Also keep in mind what chicken george has said about compatibility with older models than MY10, maybe a forum member with an older model can confirm if this holds true or not, as I don't know.

Anyhow I will ask for pricing from LR Cyprus for the base only and hopefully get back to you on Monday.

Hi,

The price I was quoted from LandRover for the base alone is 70 Euro for each base, independent of group or individual order.
